Music News: Kerri Watt meets School of Rock for her cinematic new video

Kerri Watt has been on the radar on the UK Americana scene for years, making a statement with 60s and 70s inspired outfits; her striking vocal is reminiscent of great singer-songwriters of those eras.

She’s got us all nostalgic with her latest video, too. It stars School of Rock’s Cody Molko as he navigates towards one of the awkward rites of passage of early teenage years; the first kiss.

Music News: The C2C Festival Stages will have to wait – C2C 2020 is being postponed

UPDATE: Due to the ongoing impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19), C2C Festival 2020 in London, Dublin and Glasgow is being postponed. Hold on to your tickets. The C2C organisers have said that “more information will be announced in the coming days on the rescheduled event. Thank you all for your understanding and patience at this very difficult time.”

Back in October we announced the C2C festival headliners – Eric Church, Darius Rucker and Luke Combs – plus an array of other main stage performers like Charles Esten, Brett Young and Tanya Tucker.

We’re now thrilled to reveal the artist for the Festival Stages. This is where Country To Country in London really stands out from other festivals as it gives UK country acts and up-and-coming international artists the opportunity to showcase to thousands of country fans. Importantly, it also helps draw new fans into the country fold as three stages are entirely free to all visitors to the O2.

Tour News: Daddy Long Legs are heading to Ireland

No need to worry, it’s not an insect invasion! Instead, music fans in Ireland and Northern Ireland will be treated to “rock and roll salvation through the spirit of roots and blues.”

That was vocalist, guitarist and harmonica player Brian Hurd’s take on the band’s impact. Judging from their performance at the AMA-UK’s AmericanaFest in January, he’s absolutely right. The crowd were enthralled, excited and invigorated by the raucous, retro experience.

Tour News: Vote for women – get your tickets for the Song Suffragettes UK tour now!

Recently, a U.S. country radio station tweeted “We cannot play two females back to back.” This stark admission shone a spotlight on the genr’se gender disparity that country artists, fans and journalists have been railing against for years.

Neither patience nor awareness of the problem has worked as we’re still hearing justifications for discrimination like ‘there aren’t enough talented women in the genre’ or ‘audience don’t want to listen to women,’ as if Dolly, Reba, Shania, Taylor, Carrie, Kacey and countless more never sold any records or tickets!

A group of musicians in Nashville got tired of waiting for change and took action by creating their own opportunities. Five years ago, they formed the collective Song Suffragettes collective. They host a weekly show at the Listening Room Café in Nashville which has featured over 250 female singer-songwriters. The sold-out shows have resulted in over 40 of the performers landing publishing deals and 16 being signed!

The great news for us is that they’re taking the winning formula on the road. Kalie Shorr and Candi Carpenter are bringing Song Suffragettes to the UK!
